YANKEE, GO HOME!

SOMETIMES YOU DON'T WANNA GO...

NEW BREED AT LARGE

Peyton here…

Just wanted to break the news to you guys before you hear it from somebody else.  You know when people say, “Yankee, go home!”?  Well, I am…

Although Wales has been my home for 11 years, and I’ve felt more alive in ministry in the last few years here than any other time in my life, New Breed is gaining attention in the USA and I’ve been testing a calling to return and assist my fellow Americans.  It’s my duty…but not from a nationalistic attachment.  It’s my duty to Christ and His kingdom.  In many ways, this is the worst time for me to go.  Pillar is on fire, and my passion for Wales hasn’t waned.

Let me tell you what I think…  Wales is in for a new phase of gospel advancement through the efforts of our friends over at Sovereign Grace and the maddened Jumpers of New Breed.  People are beginning to develop a theology of Church-planting that is opening the doors in people’s hearts as they look out towards the harvest field.  The fields are ripe…pray the Lord to send more Jumpers.

As I make preparations to leave, I am taking note of the movements throughout Wales.  I leave the battlefield with a new assignment for engagement, but I don’t leave the troops as they are in retreating defeat.  Confidently, I leave with the troops in advancement into enemy territory like I’ve not witnessed the entire 11 years that I’ve spent here.

Dai will be leading the charge on his own from here, and as you know, you’re in good hands.  Like a terminator, I’ll be back to check in once or twice a year and to fly with you in Jump School as much as time and finances allow.

It’s been an honor to serve shoulder to shoulder with you all.

p.s. – for the next three months I’m around to drink coffee…I’m good at it, and will pass on what I know about the experience if you’re interested

This week Dai and I kicked it New Breed style at the Acts 29 Western Europe Church Planting conference. Our heads were buzzing with ideas about church planting (and the invention of the “Coffee man” who brings lattes to your front door every morning). Perhaps that last bit was just me when my mind wandered after my brain got full.
The guys from Acts 29 laid out a theoretical framework for church-planting over the course of 4 days, and discussed a wide range of related topics. For those of you who went along from New Breed, we hope it laid a foundation in your thinking that will be built upon in the September session of Jump School. Jump School will have more of a practical emphasis and will kick off with a solid BIBLICAL basis for church planting with examples from the early church. From there, it will follow onto our other two foundations of church planting: being MISSIONAL and RADICAL.

For those of you who were there, who showed potential for church-planting, we know who you are now…you’ve been tagged.  We’re keeping an eye on you as we finalize details for Jump School in September.  Look forward to hearing from us soon.

One Little Stone

stones1One little stone. I’ve got loads of em in my back-yard, but now I’ve got one on my desk. This one is exactly the same as all of those, but since last Saturday, it means something different to me now…

Last Saturday at the Coffeerence, Dai gave a simple stone to every church-planter (a.k.a. “jumper”) who came. Like the stone on my desk, the missions that these jumpers will undertake will be hard, unnappealing, and sometimes overlooked just as David’s mighty men in their early days were once described as “distressed, in debt, or discontented” (1 Samuel 22:2). In the same way this motley crue of rag-tag jumpers assembled with a sense that God was strategically gathering a new breed of church-planters. The simple stones handed to each one were a visible reminder to those who might fall victim to the delusion that church-planting is a path to glory.

But it’s amazing what God can do with a simple stone…

Even giants crumple to the ground when God’s aiming it’s trajectory…and I hear that there are giants in the land.

Great to have you guys on board for such a time as this.
